Nas imagens inusitadas, a consorte de 34 anos, major-general Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi, aparece pilotando um caça, vestindo uniforme de combate, praticando tiro e se preparando para saltar de paraquedas. Uma biografia dela também foi publicada. Segundo a agência Reuters, o rei nomeou Sineenat, ex-enfermeira que também já trabalhou como sua guarda-costas, como Consorte Nobre Real no aniversário de 67 anos do monarca, em 28 de julho. Foi a primeira nomeação desse tipo em quase um século. Em maio, Maha se casou com Suthida Tidjai, 41, ex-comissária de bordo e ex-vice-chefe de sua guarda pessoal, que passou o ter o título de rainha.
