He is one of the most eccentric Curitiba urban characters. Oil Man rides on a bike through the streets wearing only a swimsuit and has his body smeared with oil. The scene might seem ordinary if Curitiba was supposed to be a warm coastal city, but it is located about 100 km from the sea (or 62 miles) and the average temperature during the year varies from 12°C to 24°C (or 53F to 75F).
Most “curitibanos” seen Oil Man with his bike on Rua XV de Novembro or Barigui Park – in winter or summer. We tried to interview Nelson Rebelo, the creator of the character, but we don’t find him at home. We tried to talk to him since the beginning of August, without success…
